£20 million refurbishment of a Victorian market hall into a thirty-two-number unit retail mall designed by VHH Architects.
Restoring the existing building fabric whilst adding a new steel frame to accommodate two levels of new retailing spaces internally. Very tight space and maintaining trading in the adjoining retail centre were just two of the challenges faced.
On-going design issues and development both architectural and building services, almost until the final few weeks, together with last minute changes by the client and new retail tenants resulted in many late nights to ensure the opening date was achieved.
The project was awarded Considerate Constructors Scheme National Bronze award.
